Report shows that customers are frequently involved in desktop video conferences

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass., August 21, 2007— Brockmann & Company, the customer insight research and consulting firm, today released findings from its latest independent self-funded report “The Desktop Video Conferencing Experience.” Desktop video conferencing is not the geeky technology toy it used to be. With the advent of high speed networks, built-in cameras, and excellent computers, H.264 on the desk is not as far fetched as it used to be.

According to Peter Brockmann, president of Brockmann & Company, “Desktop video conferencing is the small business video system of choice. It is very important to 60% more vice presidents, 1.7 times more CIOs and CFOs and 2 times more CEOs and COOs than telepresence. That's because desktop video conferencing involves customers and clients 43% more often than telepresence systems.

Vendors mentioned in this report include:

  • Camera & device vendors: Apple, Logitech, Polycom, Radvision, Tandberg
  • Desktop video meet services: HearMe, MegaMeeting

The report is based on the online responses of 360 business users of conferencing services from around the world.
