Improving battery life takes clever engineering

It’s not just the device manufacturer’s problem.

A WiFi-Cellular phone is such a great idea for lots of people in business and home settings. But the power consumption challenge is something that the folks at A123 Systems, the advanced Li-ion battery can help with, but it will take probably months (if not years) for them to get imbedded into products.

In the meantime, mobile VoIP companies like SIPquest, need to enable features that help battery performance. One example is the ability to ring on cellular and then wakeup the WiFi connection to take the call. This is an important interaction for the Call Control platform to enable. A Find-Me, Follow-Me implementation would enable this, but there may be quirks in the execution.
